It is getting colder and colder every day and we are not so sure we like it. We are seriously missing November already! Let's reminisce and think about why November is so great. We need to honor our favorite month and our favorite season just one more time! Take a look at these 15 reasons why we will seriously miss November, then, maybe, we can move on to the winter months.
Colorful variety
The best thing about November is how colorful the plates get.
There are loads and loads of colorful veggies and fruits that are in season and finally make it to our plates. Not only is the variety healthy, but it’s also Instagram-worthy, so hello to aesthetic pictures! We will miss those colorful foods all winter long.
Lots of foodie holidays
Did you know fall is filled with holidays specifically curated for foodies?
We have National Sandwich, National Candy Day, National Nacho Day, National Vanilla Cupcake Day, and we can't forget about Thanksgiving, the Ultimate food holiday of the year!
You name it, November probably has it. What does the winter have? Just Christmas and then nothing! Ug. So boring.
Seasonal fruits and veggies
One of the best things about fall is the plethora of unique and delicious fruits and vegetables that are finally ripe enough to enjoy.
There are loads of fruits like apples, some varieties of grapes, late pears, and figs that are in season. Similarly, capsicum, artichokes, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, and carrots are still in abundance, so foodies can enjoy a healthy plate.
Now that winter is here, we have to rely on frozen veggies and basic bananas. Come back, fall produce!!
Hearty eating
Eating in the summer is a little difficult because we can’t eat to our full capacity thanks to the hot weather. Even some foods that are light can become impossible to eat (soups, chili) only because it’s too hot on our bodies.
Luckily, fall is a great break away from the hot weather, so we can eat as much as we want without feeling guilty. Even if we work out after eating, it’s much easier, thanks to the pleasant weather.
Perfect weather
Speaking of pleasant weather, fall is when the sun’s still out but isn’t burning and scorching our feet. It’s the perfect time to go out on a walk and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or any other brew.
Also, the picturesque scenery in the fall is another thing to admire. The leaves transition into beautiful shades of amber and gold, painting a natural canvas.
Now we are going into dark, drab winter and we are seriously depressed about it.
We’re all squirrels
If there’s one time in the year when we can eat nuts and add them to everything, it’s fall.
Not only does fall bring a wide variety of nuts in season, but it also embraces their addition in everything. From nutty shakes to steamy desserts, everything in fall can feature nuts, and we love that.
Out-of-the-box foods
Some fruits and vegetables are always available in the market, but there are only a few limited ways we can eat them. Luckily, fall comes with a lot of creativity, so there are loads of dishes that feature the same ingredient but in distinct ways.
For example, there are many pear desserts, including poached pears, almond pear cake, and a pear galette. And don’t even get us started on pumpkins. We will attempt to take all of these desserts straight into the winter.
Fresh seasonal drinks
Sure, drinking is an activity we can do anytime. But is there anything better than getting a fresh pumpkin latte? Not really, right?
Thanks to all the fruits and veggies in season, many beverages can be enjoyed fresh, making them taste even better than anything else.
If it makes you feel any more motivated, fall is also the season when fresh wine is available. And honestly, it tastes much better than fine-aged ones.
Boring becomes better
Eating the same thing over and over gets boring, but fall is when a lot of unique spices come together to give us a delicious change in life.
The same apple that we couldn’t eat transforms into a decadent apple pie; the same chai that got boring now has nutmeg and other feisty fall spices.
You get the gist, right?
Festivals
Fall is the best time to host festivals, which means we’re able to enjoy food of all sorts in one place.
Whether it’s grabbing the good ol’ corn dog or feasting on a hot soup bowl, there’s just something about food from fall festivals that makes us feel giddy inside.
And that’s not the only thing; there are loads of concerts and carnivals in the fall, which means we can enjoy food with amazing entertainment.
Best time for picnics
It’s also the best weather for picnics because the summer ticks finally go back into hiding, and the weather isn’t yet cold enough to keep us shivering. This means we can rock dresses with light blazers and enjoy an open-air lunch.
Now we will all be stuck inside all winter long, hiding from the cold. We will miss those fall picnics!
Less blue, more hue
If there’s anything that perks up a foodie more than food, it’s the environment.
Even the best food can feel bland if the sky is boring and the weather is hot, but fall brings lots of different hues, including pink, purple, orange, and blue, that all mix together to complement the sun.
Just eating something underneath the gorgeous sky makes us feel like we’re somewhere in a fairytale. Now, they sky is grey and winter is coming. We miss the leaves and the blue sky contrast so much!
Pick Your Own
When November comes around, all the local farms are still offering lots of produce and YouPick foods. We absolutely love venturing to farms for Pick Your Own foods! It doesn't get any fresher than that! You get to enjoy a little family-friendly fun and then eat the freshest produce ever. This is seriously one of the best things about fall.
Pumpkins!
Everyone knows that November is still pumpkin season. Not only are pumpkins pretty in the Fall, but they are also pretty tasty. There are so many perfect pumpkin recipes that you can only make in the fall. Once winter comes, all the pumpkin goes away and we are left with...well, nothing.
School Excitement
When school starts in the fall, kids are excited to head back to the classroom. Once December rolls around, they are tired of going and want to just stay home. We miss that excitement and joy of learning and dread the tough winter months. School will be a struggle for the rest of the year.
