These breakfast foods are pretty delicious. We love eating every single one of them. But these 18 tasty foods come at a high price. They are not cheap! While we do enjoy having a luxury breakfast, are they really worth the money? If we keep on eating these foods, we will all be broke before lunchtime!

Acai bowls
Acai bowls began as a healthy breakfast option that wouldn’t put a toll on your stomach, but they’re long past that.
Now acai bowls are just a fancy way of showing people you’re eating yogurt, so they’re loaded with colorful fruits and anything vibrant, which is unhealthy. Plus, they’re ridiculously expensive and can be made at home, so why spend the money?
Rainbow bagels
Okay, bagels are a good breakfast item because they’re tasty and can be paired with healthy foods like eggs.
But rainbow bagels? This may sound shocking to some, but they’re just loaded with artificial colors that are begging to ruin your health. Rainbow bagels are also extremely pricey and taste weird in comparison to regular bagels. Um, pretty privilege, anyone?
Avocado toast
If we had a penny for every time we spend a few bucks on a toast that tastes like cardboard, we’d be poorer than we began with.
It started off as a trend, but the idea was picked up, and now we’re stuck with a breakfast option that costs several bucks for just toast and a mushy veggie. Trust us; you’d be much better off with toast you make at home with your favorite toppings and fillings.
Matcha-flavored
Okay, this isn’t a hate post, but matcha really needs to tone it down a notch. We get it; this ingredient is cool and trendy - and even healthy to be fair.
But sometimes, we just want regular tea or a vanilla cupcake, but the idea has caught on to the point bakeries are going full matcha. They also have a very particular flavor that not everyone will like, which is a sad thing, considering matcha is being plastered everywhere.
Energy bars
Okay, you might be surprised to see this one because energy bars are considered healthy and nutritious, right? Except they’re not.
Energy bars are loaded with caffeine, which might make them a good idea for a grouchy morning, but they’re also filled with sugar and harmful ingredients. They also promote unhealthy eating habits and aren’t as nutritious as they seem, so they’re basically just a bad breakfast item in general.
Flavored oatmeal
Let’s admit it; oatmeal is just sick people’s food that is somehow still being considered a breakfast item, and that’s honestly a travesty.
Yes, oatmeal is nutritious, but is it really worth the blandness? Then companies tried to make it better by adding flavoring, but we all know they’re just artificial additives. Plus, ‘strawberry’ oatmeal doesn’t even taste like strawberries; it tastes pink, and you’re mad because it makes sense.
Donuts
Leave it to us to hype up foods that are bad for us. Like donuts. Seriously, as good as they are, is it a good idea to eat them first thing in the morning with that amount of sugar glaze?
I love a good sugar donut and you can eat it as a treat. But eating it as breakfast is just overloading your body with sugar and carbs. Not to mention, donuts are dripping with oil. We may not know it, but this breakfast item is its own unholy trifecta.
Breakfast burrito
Burrito, in general? Good. Burrito as a breakfast? Good heavens, why are you hellbent on torturing your body?
Burritos are extremely heavy, so having them early can seriously mess up your entire system. Not to mention the explosive diarrhea first thing in the morning. They’re also ridiculously expensive and are often made from last night’s batch unless your burrito provider is really honest and kind. Yeah, right.
Smoothie cleanses
Honestly, we should just get rid of any kind of food that was hyped up by influencers and celebrities because they’re incredibly out of touch with reality.
Smoothie cleanses may work occasionally, but relying on them daily is detrimental to your health. They lack the nutrients needed to power through the day. Drinking smoothie cleanses regularly not only makes you nutritionally deprived but may make you susceptible to eating disorders. Nope!
Superfood coffee
You heard it here first: superfood-infused coffee or any other food is a stupid idea meant to trick you into thinking you’re being healthy.
Superfoods like mushrooms, lion’s mane, or other fungi may be healthy, but combining them with coffee is no way to start the day. They can be dangerous. Superfood coffee is typically loaded with additives and preservatives, so it’s not as healthy as it claims to be. It may even be worse than regular coffee.
Toaster pastries
Every child’s dream, every parent’s nightmare. Toaster pastries aren’t a good breakfast item because they’re nutritionally devoid of anything but sugar.
While there’s nothing wrong with having a little sugar, toaster pastries are loaded to such an extent they make your body crave more after the first bite. Their ridiculous sweet level doesn’t hold up to the quality or price, both being disappointing in their own ways.
Frozen waffles
We’re so lazy we came up with frozen waffles, which might work, except they taste 10 times worse than what you’d make from scratch. Seriously, if you want to eat waffles, just get a boxed mix. There’s nothing appetizing about pulling out a waffle from the freezer.
They’re extremely expensive, can get mushy, have poor quality, are processed, and contain harmful additives and flavorings. Yay!
Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are all the rage but has anyone ever actually enjoyed them? They are made by soaking oats in milk overnight and then eating them the next day. The problem is that when you do not cook the oats, the texture is still chewy and tough. Oats need to be cooked to get soft and tender, the way we like to eat them.
Let's all stop making oats the night before and just make them the regular way, in the morning, on the stovetop. They will still be ready in about 5 minutes and we can all eat happily.
Pancake Cereal
Pancake cereal definitely looks very cool. All those little baby pancakes in a bowl with milk make for a great picture. We can see why influencers love to post about this meal.
But, pancake cereal is a whole lot of work. Making all those tiny little pancakes takes forever! Then they are covered in milk which makes them soggy and unappetizing. Skip this breakfast trend completely and you will be glad you did.
Dalgona Coffee
Everyone was jumping on the Dalgona coffee trend a few years ago but, the biggest question is did anyone actually like the coffee? Not really!
First of all, it took about 15 minutes to make one single cup of coffee. Secondly, it really just tasted like frothy cheap coffee. Yes, Dalgona coffee looks cool, but this is one trend you should stay far away from.
Cronuts
The croissant donut was pretty popular a few years ago. Everyone waited in long lines to get a fresh cronut and, we admit, those warm cronuts were worth it!
But now cronuts are mass-produced and not nearly as good as the original, freshly baked thing. They are still just as expensive but not nearly as tasty. So, let's stop eating the subpar cronuts and move on. There are much tastier, less expensive breakfast pastries to choose from.
Cinnamon Rolls
Go to your local bakery and you will have to pay a whole lot to get just one cinnamon roll. If you really want a cinnamon roll, make them yourself. You will save a lot of money and they will taste better.
Try my cinnamon roll recipe and you can keep on eating this trendy breakfast food without breaking the bank.
Bakery Muffins
Buying muffins at the bakery every day sounds like a dream. But that is one very expensive dream! Bakery muffins are not cheap. In fact, they are normally about ten times more expensive than just making muffins at home.
Try a few of these delicious muffin recipes instead of going to the bakery. You will save a lot and still get your fluffy morning muffin.
