Why are we all pretending to like these 14 foods? Nobody really likes them or finds them remotely appetizing. We all just think that we are supposed to like them. So we eat, fake smile and still feel hungry afterward as we can only stomach a few bites of these gross things. So, can we all stop it? Can we all go back to eating foods we truly like and ditch these nasty things? Let's do it together!

Oysters
Oysters are considered to be such a fancy food. Pictures of fancy oyster platters flood our socials all summer long. But there is no way people actually like those slimy, salty, gooey things! Oysters not only have the weirdest texture ever, but they also look disgusting. The greyish color is so not appealing. To top it all off, oysters are expensive! So let’s all stop spending our money on trays of oysters and admit that they are gross.
Paté
Paté is another food that is supposed to be classy and high-end. It is a pretty popular appetizer in many Eurpoean countries so many people pretend to like paté just to seem cultured. The truth is, blended liver is just not good. Who would want to eat liver?! Especially after it has been pureed into a complete mush. It’s okay if you agree that paté is gross. We think so!
Grilled Sunflower
Grilled sunflower was pretty trendy in the summertime. People were searching high and low to find big sunflower heads to butter and grill. We tried this trend and it was simply not good. Grilled sunflowers are crunchy, bland and get totally stuck in your teeth. We are tired of pretending that this food trend is good. It was not. There- we said it!
Insanely Spicy Hot Sauces
Have you seen all those hot sauce challenges where people try to eat the spiciest hot sauce possible without crying? Why would you ever want to do that?! Hot sauce should be tasty, not painful. It is okay to only like hot saice that is mildly spicy but actually has some flavor. Burning your mouth with food is a trend we cannot get behind.
Wheatgrass Juice
We are all about healthy, nutritious foods. Anything to boost nutrition is something we want to try! But we tried wheatgrass juice and…yuck. It tastes exactly like you would expect- grassy. So, yes, we like all of the natural vitamins and minerals in wheatgrass juice but we are going to find a different way to get that nutrition. We are pouring our wheat grass juice down the drain and you should too.
Gold Leaf
Adding gold leaf to foods is a way to make it instantly look fancy. Gold leaf-covered foods are the epitome of luxury. But we can all agree that gold leaf tastes disgusting. Why are we eating metal?! Let's leave the gold off of our food and save it for jewelry. We all look good in gold!
Stevia
In recent years, stevia has earned the title of the best no-calorie sweetener. People love stevia because it is a natural sweetener and not artificially created. It is often marketed as a healthy alternative to sugar and maybe it is. But, no matter how much better it is for us, it tastes disgusting. The metallic aftertaste is unbearable. No matter what stevia is added to, that food automatically becomes inedible. We will stick to sugar and not be following the stevia trend.
Celery
We have been trying for years and years to like celery. We just can’t do it. We see influencers drinking pure celery juice and celebrities munching on celery sticks as snacks. So, we try to eat our celery, we know it is good for us but we really hate it. Don’t we all actually hate celery? It’s okay, you can admit it. We won’t tell anyone.
Naked Cakes
Who decided that it was a good idea to leave the frosting off of the cake? Naked cakes are so popular but we struggle to see the appeal. We want MORE frosting, not less! Plus, naked cakes tend to get very dried out and crumbly as they sit. Without the frosting to seal in the moisture, the cakes quickly lose their fluffy, moist texture. Let’s all make a petition to ban naked cakes from every event from now on. The cakes will look better and taste better. We all know it is true!
Gluten-Free Everything
Let us start by saying that gluten-free products are fantastic to people who have legitimate allergies to gluten. But the rest of us should just continue to happily eat our gluten and enjoy our lives. There is no benefit to eating gluten-free foods unless you have an allergy. The only thing that will happen is you will be eating food that doesn’t taste as good as when it has gluten. Eat the gluten. It is okay.
Fondant
While we are talking about cakes, let us all agree to never use fondant ever again. Fondant tastes like sugary rubber. It does make cakes look nice, we agree. But every one of us peels the fondant layer off of our cake slice and throws it away. Why are we wasting money on fondant cakes? It is time for this food trend to end!
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are another very popular food trend that has been around for too long. We have all tried chia pudding and added chia to our smoothies and I think that we can all move on now. Chia seeds have such an odd texture that no one seems to complain about. But we are complaining! We hate them. They are gooey, slimy, and look like creepy bug eggs. We are done pretending to like chia seeds and you can be done, too.
Caviar
Nobody likes the odd texture of caviar. We would find it hard to believe that anyone even likes the taste of caviar. It is mushy, salty and makes us feel queasy when we think about the fact we are eating fish eggs. Let the fish keep their eggs and stop eating caviar. No one will ever miss it.
Stuffing
Stuffing is a classic holiday food that everyone avoids. Take a look at the stuffing tray on the table at the beginning of the email and at the end of the meal. We bet the dish is still completely full! Stuffing is just mashed-up bread soaked in broth and eggs that tastes strange and oddly squishes in your mouth. Skip the stuffing and find a better side dish. We know you can! Anything is better than this.
