We taste-tested the Iced Mango Cream Chai, Iced Mango Cream Matcha, and Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato to compare them and determine whether they are worth ordering. The focus was on flavor, balance, and whether they justify the price in a crowded market of increasingly trend-driven drinks.
All three are part of a limited-time release available at participating Starbucks locations, with ordering options varying by region via in-store, app, or delivery services.
Iced mango cream chai

The price for a Short at Starbucks for this drink was $5.75. This price could vary by location.
Ingredients
The ingredient list leans toward flavored syrups and sweetened ingredients rather than simple, whole ingredients. It’s not the cleanest label, but that’s fairly standard for flavored Starbucks drinks.
Here are the ingredients for the Iced mango cream chai:
milk, ice, chai tea concentrate [an infusion of (water, black tea, black pepper, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, natural flavor, star anise), honey, ginger juice, natural flavors, citric acid], mango cold foam [vanilla sweet cream (cream (cream, mono and diglycerides, carrageenan), milk, vanilla syrup (sugar, water, natural flavors, potassium sorbate, citric acid)), mango syrup (water, sugar, natural flavors, beta-carotene (for color), potassium sorbate, citric acid, xanthan gum, ascorbic acid)], classic syrup [sugar, water, natural flavors, potassium sorbate, citric acid]
It contains 41 grams of sugar and over 300 calories per serving, depending on the size chosen.
Appearance
Color-wise, it’s a light tan base with a pale yellow-white foam. It’s subtle compared to the other drinks, not overly flashy but still polished. There are no major decorative elements beyond the foam layer.
The foam and the bottom layer kind of blended together, so it wasn't really eye-catching and had a very light, pale look. It feels more like a cozy drink than a “fun” one visually.
The foam on this one seemed to sink into the drink more than the others, so it all blended together fairly quickly.
Taste

On the first sip, the chai flavor hits first, followed quickly by the mango. That said, the mango flavor isn't overly strong. It's there, but subtle. It oddly had a pineapple aftertaste.
After a few sips, the flavors settle and work together pretty well. Interestingly, the cinnamon flavor was stronger than the mango flavor, but that could just be because the person who made it used more cinnamon.
The foam on top is sweet, but the actual drink underneath has a light, sweet flavor. The texture was light and smooth, with a thicker foam on top. The foam texture was nice, as it gave a little bit with each sip.
Would you buy it again?
Yes, but it wouldn't become a regular purchase. It has an interesting flavor, and we kept sipping to try and get that mango flavor to hang around longer. A simple tweak to the chai-to-mango balance would make this drink an out-of-the-park winner.
Iced mango cream matcha

The price for a Short at Starbucks for this drink was $5.95. This price could vary by location.
Ingredients
It's interesting that with "matcha" in the name, the actual matcha ingredient was listed last on the ingredient list, meaning that it's used in the least amount to make the drink. The added mango component adds additional sugars and flavoring.
Not a short ingredient list for the Iced mango cream matcha, and it feels a bit more indulgent than clean.
milk, ice, mango cold foam [vanilla sweet cream (cream (cream, mono and diglycerides, carrageenan), milk, vanilla syrup (sugar, water, natural flavors, potassium sorbate, citric acid)), mango syrup (water, sugar, natural flavors, beta-carotene (for color), potassium sorbate, citric acid, xanthan gum, ascorbic acid)], classic syrup [sugar, water, natural flavors, potassium sorbate, citric acid], matcha [ground green tea]
A serving has over 270 calories and 31 grams of sugar, depending on size chosen.
Appearance
This one stands out visually. The bright green matcha base with the lighter colored foam on top makes it feel more fun and eye-catching than the chai version.
It looks more “Instagram-ready” because of the prominent two-layer look. The foam did a good job of staying separated from the drink, giving it a really cool layered appearance.
Taste

The first sip was delicious. It wasn't as sweet, but the mango is more noticeable here than in the chai mango version. You get a fruity note right away.
After a few sips, the matcha starts to come through more, adding a slight earthiness that balances the sweetness. While this drink was sweet, it wasn't overly sweet and didn't feel like a true "dessert" type of indulgence. It was a lot more balanced than expected.
The foam on top was the same as the mango chai drink and had the same smooth texture, giving a pop of sweetness with each sip. The foam lasted for almost the entire drink, which was nice that it didn't just dissolve instantly.
Would you buy it again?
Yes, it's a good option. It was refreshing, with a light sweetness that didn't feel like it weighed down the day. This would be a good drink to grab and sip on while shopping or hanging out with friends.
Iced ube coconut macchiato

The price for a Short at Starbucks for this drink was $5.95. This price could vary by location.
Ingredients
This one leans heavily on flavored syrups for the ube taste. While the added ube ingredient sounds unique, it’s not made with fresh ube but instead an ube powder, and the ingredient list reflects that.
Just in case you didn't know, ube is a purple yam that’s popular in Filipino desserts, and it’s best known for its deep violet color. It adds a hint of sweetness and creaminess without completely taking over.
The ingredients used in this Iced ube coconut macchiato are:
milk, ice, ube coconut cold foam [vanilla sweet cream (cream (cream, mono and diglycerides, carrageenan), milk, vanilla syrup (sugar, water, natural flavors, potassium sorbate, citric acid)), toasted coconut syrup (water, sugar, natural flavors (coconut), citric acid, potassium sorbate), ube sweet powder (ube powder, cane sugar, fruit & vegetable juice for color (sweet potato, carrot, blueberry), natural flavor, salt, soybean oil)], brewed espresso, toasted coconut syrup [water, sugar, natural flavors (coconut), citric acid, potassium sorbate], toasted coconut topping [coconut, sugar, rice syrup, salt, natural flavor]
Depending on the size that you choose, it has over 380 calories and 41 grams of sugar.
Appearance
This is the most visually striking of the three drinks. That deep purple foam, thanks to the ube powder, really stands out against the espresso's darker color. It looks festive and immediately draws the eye.
There are coconut flakes on top as well. The coconut flakes were toasted, which made them a bit darker, but only a few were sprinkled on top, not enough to make a difference in taste.
Taste

To be honest, the first sip took us off guard. It's not that we didn't know it would have a strong coffee taste; it just felt really unbalanced. The one flavor that dominated the drink was heavy espresso, and nothing more. No ube flavor, not even with the ube foam on top. Any flavor that might have been there was completely overwhelmed by the strong coffee.
We tried a couple more sips to see if it would balance out, but nothing slowed the espresso.
Would you buy it again?
No, this is a one-and-done. If there were more of a balance between the ube foam and the espresso, that could change. But as it was presented now, it's a hard pass for round two.
Final thoughts
Not every seasonal drink needs to be a hit, but these three show just how much balance matters.
The mango cream chai feels like it’s close to something great, but just needs a stronger mango presence to really land. The mango cream matcha is the most reliable of the three, with a smoother balance that makes it easy to keep sipping. The ube coconut macchiato, while easily the most eye-catching, struggles to deliver on flavor once the espresso takes over.
If you’re trying one, the matcha is the safest bet. If you’re curious, the others are worth a sip. Seasonal offerings always deserve a try and are fun to experience. Only your own personal taste buds will find a true winner for you.
