The internet, as it occasionally does with the simplest ideas, completely lost its mind. Within weeks, yogurt tiramisu had become one of the most talked-about food moments of 2026. I watched all of this with genuine interest because, beneath the social media packaging, there is something that actually works.
Tiramisu has always been a dessert that rewards simplicity. The original Italian tiramisu is not complicated. It is coffee, something creamy, something to soak, and cocoa. There are all sorts of tiramisu versions, such as the fruity raspberry tiramisu and strawberry tiramisu. For something brighter, limoncello tiramisu is one of my favorite summer desserts, eggless and deeply refreshing.
The yogurt version strips it back even further and, in doing so, lands on something that feels lighter and more snackable than the classic.
Yogurt tiramisu recipe
Ingredients: 1 large container full-fat Greek yogurt, Lotus Biscoff cookies, 3 shots of espresso cooled to room temperature, and cocoa powder for dusting.
Stir 1 shot of espresso into Greek yogurt until fully combined.
Pour 2 other shots of espresso into a shallow bowl. Dip each Biscoff cookie briefly into the coffee, no more than two or three seconds per side. You want them softened but not falling apart.
Press the cookies into the yogurt vertically, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder.
Why this version works so well
The key is the yogurt. Full-fat Greek yogurt has enough body and tang to hold its own against the sweetness of the Biscoff cookies and the bitterness of the espresso. It does not collapse into a puddle the way a thinner yogurt would, and it brings a pleasant sharpness that keeps the whole thing from tipping into cloying territory.
The Biscoff cookies do something interesting when soaked briefly in coffee. They soften into a texture that sits somewhere between a soaked ladyfinger and a tender biscuit, and the combination of coffee and that distinctive caramelized spice creates a flavor that feels richer and more layered than the ingredient list has any right to suggest.
It is the laziest tiramisu recipe of all and works perfectly for a summer house gathering, vacation, or a lazy, sunny Sunday afternoon at home.
What TikTok got right with this one is the same thing good dessert has always gotten right. It identified an idea that is easy to make, satisfying to eat, and just different enough from what people already know to feel like a discovery. The yogurt tiramisu is not trying to replace the classic. It is just a very good reason to open the fridge.
