Taco Bell is marking National Taco Day on Oct. 7 with its biggest Tuesday celebration of the year. They are serving up multiple Tuesday Drops with $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Tacos, plus exclusive merch and the chance to win a year’s worth of free Taco Tuesday drops with a $160 gift card, all in the Taco Bell app.
Additionally, friends and family can celebrate Taco Tuesday together with $5 off Party Packs via the app, as well as a delivery-exclusive deal through DoorDash.
What is National Taco Day?
National Taco Day is an annual food holiday in the United States that celebrates one of the country’s most beloved fast foods. According to the National Day Calendar, the Taco Day celebration now officially falls on the first Tuesday in October each year. But it was not always celebrated on Tuesdays. For years, the day was informally marked on October 4.
In 2023, Taco Bell filed a legal petition to liberate the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” which had been trademarked in 49 states by Gregory’s Restaurant and Bar, home of the original Taco Tuesday in New Jersey. The effort gained national attention, and eventually, Taco Bell was successful in relinquishing the standing trademark registrations of this phrase.
In 2024, Taco Bell collaborated with the National Day Calendar to designate Tuesday, October 4, 2024, as the official date for National Taco Day, a celebration observed by restaurants, fast-food chains, and taquerias of all kinds. From large national brands to small local spots, anyone selling tacos often participates in deals, events, and promotions to mark the occasion on the first Tuesday of October.
What is the $1 taco offer?
Taco Bell marks the first anniversary of National Taco Day on Taco Tuesday with the Biggest Celebration of the Year.
Rewards members can get the $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Taco via the brand’s mobile app throughout the day at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. Pacific time. Each drop is capped at 25,000 redemptions. Members can claim one taco per drop.
The Cantina Chicken Soft Taco features slow-roasted chicken, avocado ranch sauce, shredded purple cabbage, iceberg lettuce, pico de gallo, and cheddar cheese inside a flour tortilla. It is served with a packet of avocado verde salsa.
To access the deal, customers must open the app during the specified hours, click on ‘Claim Reward’ to receive a $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Taco, plus tax. Customers must add the qualifying product to their cart to claim the reward. If the supplies are gone, the drop closes until the next one begins.

There is not just $1 taco offer. From 9 AM to 7 PM PDT, Taco Bell Rewards Members can unlock limited drops throughout the day on the Taco Bell app to celebrate:
- 9 a.m. — Exclusive National Taco Day t-shirts (500 available).
- 7 p.m. — A sweepstakes for 100 winners to receive “a year of Taco Tuesdays,” awarded in the form of a $160 Taco Bell gift card.
Those timed drops give customers a reason to check in throughout the day, whether early in the morning, mid-afternoon, or evening. If you miss the initial drop, you can still claim the offer at a later time.
These rewards are limited to app users 16 and older in the United States. No purchase is required to enter. All you have to do is visit the website or download the app and create an account if you haven’t already done so.
Party packs and delivery deals
On National Taco Day, Taco Bell is encouraging group celebrations with $5 off Taco Party Packs ordered through its app on Oct. 7. The packs are designed for sharing and include a dozen tacos.
For those ordering delivery, Taco Bell is offering a "buy one, get one" taco promotion through DoorDash. The offer is only available at participating Taco Bell locations. You can select a taco on the app and receive the second taco for free.
However, this offer is not valid on the following items: Chalupa Supreme, Black Bean Chalupa Supreme, Cheesy Gordita Crunch, Doritos Cheesy Gordita Crunch – Nacho Cheese, Doritos Cheesy Gordita Crunch – Cool Ranch, Cantina Chicken Soft Taco, and Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco. You can check the eligible items on the DoorDash app. The delivery fees, other service charges, and tips still apply.
