According to The Wall Street Journal, the fast-food chain plans to launch a brand new value menu lineup starting in April. This includes menu items priced at $3 or less, plus a new $4 breakfast meal deal designed to give customers more low-cost options.
While the news about the new value menu is trending online, McDonald's hasn't issued a formal public statement yet.

The upcoming value menu will feature discounted items such as a sausage biscuit or a four-piece order of Chicken McNuggets. This new discounted promotion is expected to replace the buy-one, add-one-for-a-dollar promotion that the company introduced in 2025.
Alongside its lower-priced menu, McDonald’s will also offer a $4 breakfast bundle that includes a McMuffin sandwich, hash browns, and coffee.
The push for better prices comes after McDonald's has spent the past two years trying to reshape its image as an affordable fast-food option. Due to the constant price hikes, many people no longer viewed the chain as a budget-friendly choice and weren't keeping quiet about the high costs and smaller portion sizes.
Social media amplified those voices and also helped them become viral. Here @realvincentcox talks about his $5 french fry order.
To acknowledge and offset complaints over the past couple of years, McDonald’s experimented with several price-focused promotions. They brought back the popular $5 meal deal, which is still available. Plus, they introduced the BOGO-for-$1 menu items. They also offer deals and discounts regularly through their app.
Because of the changes they've implemented to lower prices, people have now taken to social media to show off their low-cost orders, including tips on how to snag the deals yourself.

Why this matters
Fast food chains have long been associated with inexpensive meals. But over the past few years, rising prices across the industry have caused many customers to rethink that assumption. When a quick stop for burgers and fries starts to feel like a sit-down restaurant bill, people begin looking elsewhere.
That shift has created pressure for major chains like McDonald’s to rethink how they deliver value. By introducing more items at $3 and bundling breakfast into a $4 meal deal, the company is trying to reestablish itself as an affordable option for everyday meals.
It also reflects a larger trend happening across the fast-food industry. Many chains are leaning into budget-friendly promotions and limited-time discounts to bring customers back through the drive-thru. For families and anyone trying to stretch their food budget, these deals can make fast food feel accessible again.
In the end, the success of these value menus may determine whether customers continue seeing fast food as a convenient splurge or return to viewing it as an everyday option.
