What happened to all the snacks we couldn’t get enough of? From quirky cereal flavors to discontinued chips and candies, these treats were a huge part of our childhood. Somehow, they disappeared from store shelves, leaving us wondering why. If you ever find yourself craving a bite of your favorite retro snack, you’re not alone. Let’s take a look back at the flavors we wish would make a comeback!

Dunakroos

Every kid in the early 2000s brought Dunkaroos to school. The little snack packs consisted of small cookies with a separate container of frosting for dipping. While you were supposed to dip the cookie in the frosting, most kids just ate the frosting with a spoon! It was hard to resist that fluffy vanilla frosting. We really wish we had a little bowl of it right about now…
Altoid Sours

Altoid mint candies have always been pretty popular, but in the early 2000s, the company introduced hard, sour candies. The sours came in a little tin that was also quite useful once you were done with the candies. We miss Altoid Sours, and we miss those tins!
Jell-O Wild Cherry

There have been a lot of different flavors of Jell-O but we fondly remember wild cherry, a flavor that was discontinued way too soon. Wild cherry was a bright, bold-flavored Jell-O that was a staple in many households. While you can still get regular cherry Jell-O, it is not quite the same as the wild cherry of the past.
Goldfish Grahams S’Mores

The Goldfish Cracker company really branched out when they started making mini cookies shaped like fish. Not only did they start making graham cracker fish, but they also created a whole line of s’mores-flavored cookies. Each bag of s’mores goldfish had chocolate fish and marshmallow-flavored fish, making a unique and exciting snack. You can’t find these anymore but the memory of the best Goldfish ever will live on!
Banana Nut Cheerios

Cheerios started to create new flavored cereal in the early 2000s. Banana Nut Cheerios was definitely one of the best flavors to hit the shelves. The banana flavor was all natural, coming from real fruit puree. This is something you don’t see in cereal anymore. It’s all artificial flavors these days! Boy, do we miss Banana Nut Cheerios in the morning?
Guacamole Doritos

Dipping Doritos in guacamole was such a genius idea that the Doritos company decided to make the chips in the flavor of guacamole. You no longer needed the dip! The chips were perfectly flavored all on their own. Guacamole Doritos are long gone now, but we really wish they would come back. Then we wouldn’t have to worry about keeping fresh avocados around…
Cheetos Salsa Con Queso

Any kid growing up in the early 2000s tried Cheetos Salsa con Queso. Those cheesy snacks were pretty addictive! So where did they go? Cheetos Salsa con Queso was overthrown by Flammin Hot Cheetos, which you can still find in stores today. The Salsa con Queso chips were more flavorful if you ask us, but I guess the hot ones will have to do.
Everyone’s breath used to smell fresh, like cinnamon. The low-calorie breath mint was a popular pick. Apparently, cinnamon Tic Tacs weren’t popular enough because the company stopped making them, leaving behind boring spearmint and tangy orange-flavored mints. Bring back the cinnamon!

Cinnamon Tic Tacs
Kudos Granola Bars

Do you remember those perfect little granola bars drizzled with chocolate and covered in M&Ms? We sure do! Kudos bars were the BEST. Everyone loved them. But they have completely disappeared, and no one quite knows why.
Dannon Sprinkle-In’s

In the late 1990s, the Dannon yogurt company made individual yogurt cups that had a small container of rainbow sprinkles that you could mix in yourself. It was essentially like adding colorful sugar to an otherwise healthy breakfast. It was great! Dannon stopped making their sprinkle yogurts, but other companies quickly swooped in to create their own versions. You can still buy yogurt with sprinkles in almost every grocery store; it’s just not quite the same as the Dannon classic.
Starburst Hard Candies

Chewy Starbursts sure are great, but the hard candies were even better. All the fruity flavor of regular Starbursts is packed into little hard candies that you could suck on for hours. The candies were quite popular when they were first released, but sales declined after a while. And now, those tasty hard candies are gone forever. You will just have to suck on a regular Starburst square from now on.
Apple Newtons

Once upon a time, Fig Newtons were made with apple filling instead of figs. The taste was delicious, and the popularity was soaring. But apparently, Apple Newtowns weren’t as popular as we thought. They were taken off the shelves and replaced by strawberry Newtons, which, we admit, are also pretty good.
Oreo O's

Eating Oreos for breakfast was the absolute best. Any kid who walked into the kitchen in the morning and saw a big bowl of Oreo O's at the table just knew they would have a great day. So where did those Oreo O's go? We aren't quite sure. Everyone loved them, so why did they have to disappear? We want our breakfast cookies back!
Trix Yogurt

Trix yogurt was a combination of two delicious foods- Trix cereal and yogurt. It was essentially the ultimate breakfast food. We may never know how they got the perfect berry flavor of Trix into a cup of yogurt. You can't find Trix yogurt anymore, which may be one of the reasons kids don't really eat yogurt very much. It just isn't as good as it used to be.
Eggo Waf-Fulls

Eggos may still be in the grocery store, but they aren't stuffed with amazing strawberry filling anymore. Eggo Waf-Fulls were simply incredible. You didn't even need syrup on your waffle because of all the sweet strawberry jelly stuffed into every waffle. Where did these amazing treats go?! We wish we knew.
Bubble Tape

Do you want one inch of gum or a whole foot? Everyone used to carry bubble tape around in their bags and take out measured pieces of gum all day long. Bubble tape was not only fun, but it was a pretty yummy gum! We want it back, please.
Banquet TV Dinners

When Mom was too tired to cook, she made a banquet TV dinner. All the kids loved it that night of the week! It meant that you could sit back, relax, and watch a show with your microwaved meal. We don't think that TV dinners were especially healthy, but hey, they did the job! Eating one now would definitely make us fondly remember our childhood.
Lunchables

You can still buy Lunchables in many grocery stores, but they really aren't the same as they used to be. We yearn for the Lunchables from decades ago, perfectly sealed and packed in our backpacks for school. Those Lunchables made our friends jealous and made us feel cool. We seriously miss those Lunchables! It seems like we might need a time machine to go back and make this dream come true.
General Mills Bugels

Bugels were like a chip, a cracker, and a toy, all combined into one perfect snack. They were crunchy like a cracker but super salty like chips. But the best thing about Bugels was the cone shape. Kids put Bugels on their fingers and pretended they were long, scratchy nails. You can still get Bugels in the store, but now they come in a bag instead of a box, and they don't seem the same.
Jello Pudding Pops

Everyone loves Jello, and the company created an irresistible pudding pop pack that helps you turn your favorite pudding into popsicles. You could make vanilla or chocolate pudding using the convenient kit. But now, you can't find pudding pop kits anywhere. How can we make our favorite summer snack now?!
