TikTok has become one of the best places to discover new kitchen gadgets.
As a food writer, I scroll through countless kitchen gadgets and viral hacks, but only a handful actually live up to the buzz. TikTok has a way of turning the most unexpected tools into must-haves, and I’ve put several of them to the test in my own kitchen. These are the finds that truly make cooking and baking either easier, faster, or a lot more fun.
Cake decorating kit
I love this from Mia Stav Cakes. If you have just started baking cakes, you should get this cake decorating kit. This kit comes with everything you need to decorate a cake: a cake turntable, piping bags, different piping tips, scrapers, fondant molds, and more. People on TikTok show their cakes before and after getting one of these kits. The difference is obvious.
Even people who've never decorated a cake before can get decent results by using this kit. It’s beginner-friendly, and even professional bakers can use it for cakes, cupcakes, and more.
Electric wine aerator
Jacqueline Aniece takes her wine seriously, so do I. We all know that wine tastes better when it gets some air, but most people don't want to mess around with decanters. This TikTok-famous electric wine aerator screws onto the wine bottle and aerates it automatically when you pour. You can actually taste the difference, especially with cheaper wine.
It's ideal for regular wine drinkers who want a better flavor without using a decanter.
Mini waffle maker
This compact waffle maker measures approximately 4 inches in width, featuring nonstick plates that heat up evenly. It also has a built-in indicator light that notifies you when the pan is ready to use. It´s my go-to for Sunday breakfast. Make your favorite breakfast classics, or get creative with waffled hash browns, cookies, and even biscuit pizzas. Any batter will “waffle” into single-serving portions. Great for families or on the go.
TikTok users figured out it works for more than waffles. Courtney Luna has even tried “chaffle (cheese waffle)” in it and claims that they turn out perfect every time without even sticking to the surface. And it's so affordable!
Rotary cheese grater
This is an old-style cheese grater that TikTok brought back. This hand-cranked grater works with multiple drum attachments that can slice and shred a variety of foods, including cheese, carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, and more. You load the food at the top, turn the handle, and the grated pieces fall out the side.
The most impressive part? It makes the most perfect potato chips! I've learnt this trick from Reese on Tiktok.
It’s also easy to take part and clean. If you like to grate your cheese and vegetables, this is one of the best kitchen gadgets you’ll ever have!
Sourdough starter kit
Fast forward to the big sourdough revolution during the pandemic, and it seems everyone is still into sourdough, even Taylor Swift!
If you’ve always wanted to make sourdough bread at home but haven’t tried yet, this kit is everything you ned to get started. This sourdough starter kit shared by Mama Lyd has complete baking supplies you need, including 100% natural rattan baskets, a dough whisk, a bread lame, and a dough scraper. It also comes with a printed recipe book and a user manual. Ready to start feeding your starter?
Not all viral kitchen gadgets are useful; most of them disappoint you after the first few uses. You get excited watching someone use them, order one, try it twice, then forget about it. But these particular tools have been around long enough that people are still talking about them for good reasons.
In the end, the best kitchen gadgets are the ones that you’ll use regularly and make your life much easier!
