Casa Marzu Cheese

This cheese is so gross that it has been outlawed in several countries. Why is it so terrible? The cheese is made by rotting the milk until it makes maggots. Yes, there are maggots in the cheese. Some say this makes it taste unique and flavorful. We say it makes it absolutely disgusting and something we would never put in our mouths.
Are you gross enough to try Maggot cheese? Please say no.
Balut
What exactly is balut? It is a soft-boiled, fertilized duck egg. That means there is a baby duck embryo inside the egg that is also cooked and then eaten. Balut is popular in Vietnam as a street food, but when you peel back that eggshell and find a curled-up baby duck, your appetite may quickly disappear.
Raw Octopus
Calamari is pretty tasty, but serving a plate of raw octopus is gross. Many Asian countries are known for serving raw seafood, and some even serve octopus while it is still alive and moving.
The idea of an octopus’ suction cups gripping your throat just makes us cringe. We will stick to cooked octopus and let those braver than us enjoy the still-moving seafood.
Fugu
Fugu is a type of puffer fish that is considered a delicacy in Japan. While you might think that fish doesn’t sound too bad, think again. Fugu actually has deadly chemicals inside it, which can be lethal. Have people actually died from eating fugu? Absolutely. If that fact doesn’t make you question this meal, then you must be crazy!
We are going to opt for foods that won’t kill us. You can have all the fugu you want!
Gomutra
Gomutra is a fancy name for cow urine. Drinking gomutra is a centuries-old tradition in India, where the tonic is said to treat psoriasis, fevers, liver failure, and even cancer. The fact that it is also used to clean floors makes us question all legitimacy.
Plus, the idea of drinking any urine is pretty gross, even if it means staying healthy. We will have to think about this one.
Mouse Wine
Head over to South China to try mouse wine. The mix is made using blind, hairless, baby mice soaked in rice wine. The wine needs to sit and mature for at least a year before being ready to drink. Then, it is given out as a tonic for asthma and liver disease.
Mouse wine tastes like pure gasoline and we have been told that sometimes you get a little chunk of the mouse in your glass. This may just be one of the grossest foods on earth.
Stinky Tofu
The texture of tofu is already hard to stomach, but adding a strong odor makes it almost inedible. Stinky tofu is popular in China and is actually considered a delicacy.
The smell has been equated to rotten meat, low tide, baby poo, and stinky feet all combined. The chunks of tofu are often deep fried, but the intense cooking process doesn’t mask the smell.
Frog Juice
Bang a frog's head on a counter, skin it, clean it, and then put it in a blender with some water, and you just make frog juice. The green, slimy goo is considered to be an aphrodisiac energy drink.
We don’t know anyone who has the energy or desire to kill and blend a frog, but to each their own. Maybe it is good, but we will never know because it sounds too awful to drink.
Durian
Durian is considered to be the king of all fruits. However, it is a pretty stinky king. The massive fruit smells like a mix of rotten eggs and a bunch of dead cats. Some people describe the smell as raw sewage and unwashed socks.
You can see that it just smells bad. We aren’t sure how people get past that unimaginable smell and actually eat this fruit, so we won’t be trying it.
Fruit Bat Soup
Imagine looking into your soup bowl and seeing a floating bat. Not only will you find a whole bat in every bowl of soup, but you will also smell the strong stench of urine. Why is this soup so popular? You will have to ask someone in Guam why they find it appealing. We definitely need someone to explain it to us.
Kopi Luwak
Kopi luwak is the world's most expensive coffee. If you are a coffee lover, this may sound intriguing. But would you still give this pricey coffee a try after hearing that it is made from animal poop?
Any food that originates from poop is something we want to skip. We will stick to the inexpensive grocery store coffee and be very happy about the choice.
Tarantula Legs
Seeing a spider run around the house is enough to make anyone a little skittish. So, how would you feel if you were served a big plate of deep-fried tarantulas? We would definitely need to leave the table. There is no way we could ever actually eat a spider, even if it was deep-fried.
