Everyone eats these 15 foods. Some people eat them multiple times a day. But we are seriously wondering why anyone eats them at all. These foods are actually quite weird when you take a deeper look. You may even change how you feel about putting these odd foods in your mouth.

Seaweed
A popular snack and ingredient in East and Southeast Asian countries, seaweed is one of those foods you'd never think about eating at first glance. And yet, this paper-thin food is a popular delight and is even served in packets.
Why we choose to eat seaweed beats me. It’s literally like picking up the weird mushy tendrils that touch your feet when you’re in the ocean, and even with this gross comparison, seaweed is one snack we can’t stop eating.
Spam
Here’s a hot take: I’ve always thought spam was pretty gross, but that has never stopped me from eating it. I mean, we give so much hate to canned food in general, so spam should be getting the same. But something about this moist, salty canned pork is so addictive that I can’t help but buy it in bulk every time I’m at the grocery store.
Tofu
Tofu initially began as a vegan alternative, but little did we know it’d take such a boost to the top. Yes, tofu has been a popular part of Japanese cuisine, and I’m not saying it existed solely as a substitute, but ever since diet-conscious people picked up this weird little food, it hasn’t looked back.
Tofu is technically a weird food to begin with. It is literally milk extracted from soybeans that are curdled into cubes, so the idea is not pretty. But that’s just part of what makes it delicious.
Blue cheese
Not everyone is eating blue cheese, but those of us who are know we’re in deep trouble. This is because while we literally know how disgusting it smells, we get over that initial wind of tanginess and still indulge in its apparently tacky flavor. And yet, blue cheese is actually quite a delight once you get the hang of it.
Candy corn
Have you ever wondered why candy corn frequently makes it to our Halloween baskets despite the fact that no one remembers buying it? There’s no way our lives are complete without it, and we’d rather not poke into the mystery of who got it.
Sure, candy corn isn’t your average candy—it might even be below average—but we’re still buying it, aren’t we?
Diet sodas
Hundreds of people feel diet sodas are disgusting because they contain weird additives and offer no flavor. And yet, whenever I take a sip of diet soda, I feel quite happy. Maybe it’s because I occasionally drink it to pair with my very hefty meal, or maybe I fail to recognize the taste difference. But my diet soda isn’t going anywhere!
Pancake syrup
Pancake syrup is too sweet, too fake, and too thick. Whenever you eat too much pancake syrup, your throat feels a little sore from the sweetness. And yet you’ll still pour a hefty amount of that syrup on your waffles or pancakes because, hey, it’s still delicious!
Barbecue sauce
This is an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like barbecue sauce on its own. I can handle a little chili, a bit of mustard and mayo, and ketchup, but barbecue sauce is way too tangy and weird-tasting on its own. And yet, when you pair it with a brisket or actual roasted meat, it’s the best combination you’ll ever eat.
American Cheese
American cheese is a processed blend of cheeses mixed together with additives to make the "cheese" melt evenly. The slices of cheese are individually wrapped because they are too sticky and slimy to go in one package.
Lots of people love American cheese slices because they melt beautifully over a burger or inside a grilled cheese. But is it really cheese? Or is it a super-processed mix of chemicals? Nobody wants actually to know.
Nuggets
Alright, we don’t really need to address the popularity of nuggets because it goes without saying a majority of our diet focuses on these little fritters. But it’s not like nuggets are the healthiest food out there. I mean, they soak up a lot of oil, so they’re not exactly diet-friendly.
Not to mention, they’re literally crushed up meat, fat, and even bones, so yeah, they’re disgusting (ahem, remember Jamie Oliver’s war on nuggets?).
But will that make us drop them? Not for a million years!
Twinkies
Many people in the United States enjoy Twinkies, a favorite sweet treat. The fluffy, soft cake with the white cream filling looks pretty appealing. But Twinkies are actually full of chemicals and additives. This is why a Twinkie lasts years inside a package. That can't be good for you, but we eat them anyway!
Milkshakes
Milkshakes are an all-time favorite dessert. They are completely indulgent and have way, WAY too many calories. If you drink one whole milkshake, you are consuming hundreds, possibly thousands, of calories.
A milkshake contains an insane amount of fat and sugar that you don't even want to think about. It may be one of the most unhealthy desserts out there! But will that stop us from ordering another milkshake? Probably not.
Spray Cheese
Spray cheese is one of those very weird foods that we don't completely understand. Is there actually cheese in that aerosol can? Or are we spraying pure chemicals onto our crackers? We aren't sure if we really care, which it is as long as we get to enjoy our spray cheese! It is definitely a terrible food, but it is also quite addictive.
Caviar
Caviar is such a gross food. When we think about eating tiny, slimy fish eggs, we get a little queasy. However, when we eat caviar, we totally swoon. Caviar is surprisingly good, which is probably also why it is such an expensive luxury food. Sometimes, the best foods come from the most surprising places.
Oysters
Oysters are slimy, slippery, and super salty. Plus, you have to slurp them out of their shells. Why would anyone like this food?! Well, we do!
In fact, lots of people pay a very high price just to enjoy an oyster. While they may taste pretty darn good, oysters are very gross when you really think about it.
